Internet Surveys

Man using the computer Macro operates Internet Survey Centers in Maryland (two locations), Vermont, and New Jersey. Our Internet surveys often provide advantages over other forms of surveys, including increased respondent convenience, faster turnaround, and lower study costs.

Our Internet survey system is designed to handle a range of question types, and our clients can add their logos, customize the colors, and link to video images or other Web sites. In addition, our Internet survey system provides many other features, such as:

  • Customizable e-mail notifications and reminders to respondents
  • Password protection to ensure data validity
  • Automatic saving of responses after every page of the survey
  • A suspend feature, which allows respondents to return at a later time to complete the survey with previous responses saved
  • Professional technical support through e-mail and a toll-free telephone number

Macro hosted an employee climate survey on the Internet with employees in the truck finance services division of a major auto manufacturer. We collaborated on development of the survey content that measured overall job satisfaction, employee-employer relationships, and employee commitment. After administering the survey, we analyzed the data. We examined the results with regard to several types of automobile drivers and performed special analyses on topics that arose from the study. We also provided the dataset and formatted data reports for a debriefing and action-planning session with the company’s executives.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) wanted to find out how satisfied its employees throughout the world were with internal services and to obtain suggestions for improving the work environment.

To obtain this information, Macro conducted a worldwide Internet survey of 8,500 USAID employees. We consulted on the survey design, administered the survey using the Internet, provided all technical support for the survey, and provided the final dataset for analysis. Because of the nature of conducting an Internet survey internationally and the limited Internet access of some employees, Macro provided e-mail and fax as alternative ways to complete the survey. Because of this flexibility, survey returns far exceeded USAID’s response rate projections.

The Agency presented the Macro project team with a formal Letter of Commendation for Outstanding Performance, noting the high quality of work and the ability to perform in a very short timeframe. The following year, we conducted the survey again and obtained an even greater response rate.

AmeriCorps volunteers AmeriCorps*VISTA Online Survey
Macro used an online database to help the Corporation for National and Community Service’s AmeriCorps*VISTA Program obtain timely data and information on its grantee population. Based on careful planning and execution, Macro was able to achieve a 100 percent response rate from 52 State and territory offices (Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico), with survey information on 1,182 grantee projects within 3 weeks. This data will help AmeriCorps*VISTA better understand the nature and type of grantee projects for which it is providing AmeriCorps*VISTA member support.
