Since 2004, the Federal Government has been using PART to assess the effectiveness of specific programs. In 2005, of the 19 programs deemed to be “ineffective,” 13 had their budgets reduced and 5 were cut entirely. In 2006, of the 22 programs deemed “ineffective,” 9 had their budgets reduced, and 10 were cut entirely. The 2007 request calls for the elimination or reduction of all but 5 of the 29 programs deemed to be “ineffective.”
