Conducting Cell Phone Surveys

Questionnaire
  • Omnibus survey with 250 respondents on a wide variety of topics.
Sampling
  • Sample selected by Survey Sampling Inc. (SSI) from a sampling frame constructed of telephone prefixes dedicated to cellular service and mixed-use prefixes.
Verification line
  • MacroPoll has a dedicated verification line to field inquiries about the survey's authenticity, allow the respondent to opt out of the survey, or transfer to an interviewer to complete the interview.
Screening and respondent selection
  • All telephone numbers are manually dialed to comply with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TPCA).
  • Safety: Confirm respondent can speak to us and not compromise personal safety and/or confidentiality
  • Age: Respondent must be 18 or older
  • Household landline phone status: Both cell-only and cell and landline respondents are interviewed.
  • Cell phone sharing?: If yes, randomly pick an adult to be interviewed.
Number of call-attempts
  • Minimum of 5 attempts on non-terminal records.
Voice Mail
  • Macro leaves a message containing the survey verification number on respondent's voicemail on second and fourth calling attempts.
Caller ID
  • Displays study survey verification line on cell phone caller ID.
Calling Schedule
  • Call attempts are spread out over days and evenings throughout various days including weekdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Refusal conversion
  • One refusal conversion attempt on all non-hard refusals. (No conversion attempts will be made on hard refusals.)
Incentives
