Malaria Information System
For the Child Survival Collaborations and Resources Group (CORE), Macro designed a pilot information system with easy-to-use forms for capturing non-governmental organization (NGO) malaria activities for use by Secretariats, networks, and other groups located in countries where CORE, Inc. members and other NGOs were implementing malaria programs. The information system template is dynamic, yet in a standardized format that is readily adaptable to diverse country settings and allows systematic changes. The collection system is in both electronic and paper formats, easy to use, and contains key information on three levels: organizational, program area, and project activities. Macro also developed a user’s guide to assist field staff in using the system, collecting data, and producing reports.
Child Survival and Health Grants Program
Through the Child Survival Technical Support (CSTS+) project, Macro provides assistance to the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Child Survival and Health Grants Program (CSHGP) and its portfolio of more than 75 community-based health grants; the private voluntary organizations (PVOs)/non-governmental organizations (NGOs) flexible fund, which focuses on strengthening the worldwide roles of PVOs and NGOs in family planning and reproductive health; and CORE, Inc., a network of 37 nonprofit organizations working together to promote and improve primary health care programs for women and children and the communities in which they live. Through its support to these groups, CSTS+ contributes to the improvement of health status and health systems designed to serve mothers and children worldwide.
Macro provides a wide range of assistance, including technical support in key health areas, information management for CSHGP and its grantee organizations, strategic planning, application review support, U.S.-based and international training programs, and data analysis and reporting.
Development and Implementation of a Training Program for NCHSTP/Global AIDS Program (GAP) Monitoring and Evaluation Specialists
Macro developed and implemented a training program for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Global AIDS Program (GAP) Monitoring & Evaluation Field Corps. The National Center for HIV, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHSTP) GAP measurement and evaluation (M&E) Team has developed M&E approaches and requirements for GAP field offices in order to track program progress, improve programs, report to funders, and provide information for decisionmaking on programmatic resource distribution. GAP maintains 25 field offices worldwide. Macro placed M&E specialists in 10 GAP field offices to provide long-term, in-country support.
