Our marketing, media, and technology services maintain several award-winning substance abuse prevention and education Web sites that target a wide range of audiences and age groupshttp://ncadi.samhsa.gov (for professionals and other audiences) and http://family.samhsa.gov (for adults involved with children ages 7-17). Macro creates a wealth of print and audiovisual materials that support these Federal prevention initiatives to target youth, parents, educators, faith and community groups, prevention specialists, and other professionals working in the field.
Multisite Prevention Evaluation
Macro conducted a multisite evaluation of substance abuse prevention initiatives funded by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention. Macro was responsible for designing and implementing both a process and an outcome evaluation. The evaluation consisted of quasi-experimental designs involving non-equivalent control groups, standard instruments, and repeated measures over a 3-year period. We collected dosage data on each program participant to measure exposure to program interventions and tested for specific intervention efficacy. During site visits and in-depth telephone interviews, we collected process evaluation data with which to profile the programs and interpret outcome findings. The evaluation involved 15 programs serving high-risk youth and their families. Approximately 3,000 youth were in the study.
