Interactive Learning for Health Officers
Macro developed and produced an interactive multimedia training program for biochemical testing and substance abuse prevention for the United States Marine Corps to provide comprehensive instruction to support the duties and responsibilities of the Marine Corps Substance Abuse Control Officers (SACOs). The multimedia program focuses on the rules and procedures of urinalysis testing for drug abuse, and alcohol and drug prevention activities to be implemented by the SACOs. Macro produced a design document and storyboards that presented content material designated by the Marines in a series of interactive learning applicationsvideo, still photographs, audio, text, and graphicsthat allowed users to solve issues, self-test their levels of knowledge, and develop a unit prevention plan. A total of 10,000 copies are available for use by Marine installations around the world.
Ensuring Informed Decisionmaking
Macro is evaluating a model of informed decisionmaking for prostate cancer screening in asymptomatic men with no family history of prostate cancer. For this project, Macro conducted a thorough literature review and designed a study to allow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to test the impact of educational materials on patient screening decisions and health outcomes. Macro also helped to design study measures and conducted cognitive interview testing with measures and a study protocol.
