The Federal Government’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is developing the Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA), a framework for Government-wide improvement. The FEA is designed to support cross-agency collaboration, transformation, and improvement and to provide Federal agencies with a method for describing, analyzing, and improving Government processes. The framework is designed to transform the Federal Government into a citizen-centered, results-oriented, and market-based entity and, in this way, is closely aligned with Macro’s corporate goals for developing user-centered, intuitive information systems.
The FEA has been constructed using a series of five interrelated reference models. The models are designed to enable cross-agency analysis and improve the identification of duplicative efforts, gaps, and opportunities among Federal agencies. The Technical Reference Model (TRM) is a technical framework used to identify the standards, specifications, and technologies that support and enable the delivery of services.
