    INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER/COURSE DEVELOPER

    Macro International Inc. , an evaluation and social sciences professional services firm in Atlanta , GA, seeks candidates to staff the position of Instructional Designer/Course Developer for a CDC training project. The position will analyze learning requirements, design curriculum, and develop training courses. This position will also assess and apply delivery methods that best serve learning requirements, including instructor-led, e-learning, and blended learning options.

    Responsibilities for this position may include the following: working with subject matter experts and learners to complete needs assessment and analysis and recommending the appropriate methodology and technology to address identified learning needs; actively participating as part of the design team to create an effective learner interface and edit product specifications; writing clear, concise instructional materials per content outlines, the instructional design plan, and stakeholder requirements; building and updating training systems using visual authoring tools such as Adobe Captivate and Flash; assisting with the development of project plans, including deliverables, scope, schedule, additional resources required, and dependencies; designing; staying informed about industry standards, new technology, and creative ways to present content to learners.  In addition, the successful candidate will write engaging curricula for technical and non-technical audiences; develop interactive learning activities; provide technical assistance to a wide range of audiences; and, interact effectively with both clients and colleagues.  Candidates should be able to think analytically and synthesize feedback systematically.  Successful candidates will be part of a training team and mentored by senior staff. 

    Qualifications: Experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or equivalent required. Master's degree in instructional technology, education, public health, computer sciences or related field, and 3–5 years experience in instructional design required or Ph.D. with at least 2 years related experience. Previous experience with curriculum design, adult learning principles, web-based delivery methods, and training program design, development, and evaluation required. CHES certification is highly desirable.  Previous experience with eLearning authoring software packages (e.g., Captivate, Lectora) and e-learning communication and management systems (e.g., Adobe Connect) would be ideal.  Limited travel may be required.  

    Extensive experience with Microsoft Office applications and developing multimedia-based training required.  Experience and demonstrated success in working with multi-disciplinary teams and strong client relations/management skills are required.  Familiarity with public health, program evaluation, and national data systems preferred.

    Primary responsibilities for this position will involve performing assignments related to various ongoing research and evaluation tasks, under the direction of senior-level staff and in partnership with other research associates.  Assignments typically include: literature reviews, in-depth interviews, focus groups, survey design and administration, site visits, survey design and administration, data management, data analysis, and report writing. Other duties may include: documenting client meetings; developing presentations; developing program evaluation activities (e.g., logic models describing programs); assisting in planning, scheduling and logistics coordination of client-focused programs and events. 

    Candidates must be able to synthesize qualitative and quantitative information from a variety of sources and juggle multiple tasks, contribute to proposal development, have familiarity with a wide variety of public health and human services issues, and interact effectively with clients and colleagues.

    Qualifications: Master’s degree in public health, public policy, behavioral or social sciences, or related field required with 1 to 2 years of relevant experience.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Access) is essential in this fast-paced client oriented environment.     International Research Job Openings (U.S.-Based):

    ECONOMIST (INTERNATIONAL HIV/AIDS)

    Macro International Inc., an evaluation and social sciences professional services firm in Atlanta, GA, seeks candidates with a graduate-level degree or equivalent training, skills, and experience concentrating in health economics or public health policy, to assist in economic evaluations of international HIV/AIDS programs for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Global AIDS Program (GAP).  Project work will support U.S.-based and international U.S. Government staff working in Africa , Asia , and the Caribbean to implement the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (Emergency Plan). 

    Primary responsibilities for this position include the following: 1) assist in design, methods, and analytic strategies, 2) data management and analysis, 3) prepare country-specific analyses and reports, 4) prepare meta-analyses and corresponding reports for Federal and international stakeholders, 5) prepare manuscripts for refereed publications 6) prepare and deliver training on conducting economic evaluations in developing countries, 7) technical support to Emergency Plan working groups.  The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to conceptualize various methods and related analytic strategies, manage large data sets, and apply standard and advanced econometric analyses and modeling approaches.  Previous experience in cost-effectiveness or costing studies in HIV/AIDS or related public health areas is desirable.  The position provides the opportunity for joint authorship on refereed publications.  

    QUALIFICATIONS:  Must have Doctoral degree in economics, public health, public policy, behavioral or social sciences, or a related field (or demonstrated equivalence in skill, training, and experience) with at least 2 years related experience in international settings or working with agencies with an international scope, or Masters degree in the same fields listed above with at least 4 years of related experience.

    Responsibilities will focus primarily on providing M&E support on issues related to prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV, including  protocol development, evaluation of monitoring systems and PMTCT specific data analysis. The position may also include assistance in training development, coordination, and delivery; providing technical assistance via phone and in-person; database maintenance and data analysis (SQL and Access familiarity preferred); and indicator analysis and report writing.  The ideal candidate is able to assist in responding to field-level issues, synthesize qualitative and quantitative information from a variety of sources, write for technical and non-technical audiences, and interact effectively with clients and colleagues.  In addition, some travel will be required.

    Qualifications: Master’s degree in public health, public policy, behavioral or social sciences, or related field required with at least 2 years related experience in international settings or working with agencies with an international scope.  Proven analysis and presentation skills and a background in issues related to prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV or reproductive health are required.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (particularly in Word and PowerPoint) is essential.  Candidates must have well developed writing skills.
