    ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (CMHS)

    Macro International Inc., an evaluation and social sciences professional services firm in Atlanta, GA, seeks candidates to staff the position of Administrative Assistant to support the Children’s Mental Health Services practice area in the Atlanta office. 

    Primary responsibilities for this position include providing executive administrative assistance to the Vice President and senior management, meeting planning and logistics, coordinating travel arrangements and schedules.  Duties will also include project administrative support, such as: creating and maintaining files; documenting client meetings; providing electronic library assistance; and, performing general office and administrative duties. 

    The ideal candidate will be detailed-oriented with proven ability to coordinate and juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-conscious environment. Experience in a consulting and/or contracting environment, and familiarity with public health or human service issues is a plus.  Some overtime may be required. 

    Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years relevant experience required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.  Strong administrative and coordination skills, as well as troubleshooting skills with an effective customer-service orientation are required for this position. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.  Proofreading and editing skills are a plus.  A self-starter with strong work ethic, excellent organizational skills, and proven dependability are a must for this position.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Access) is essential.

    ELEARNING GRAPHICS/EDITING INTERNSHIP

    Macro International Inc., a professional services research and evaluation firm, is seeking graphic artist interns to work on eLearning public health projects.  The intern(s) will be supervised by senior graphic artists and work in a team environment.  This temporary position is for half- to full-time employment from January 2009 until September 2009.

    Responsibilities for this position include the following: recording and editing software screen captures; formatting PowerPoint slides; using Photoshop to correct images; editing Flash files; and performing quality control and final testing of eLearning modules.

    Qualifications: Ideal candidates will be recent college graduates or graduate students. Bachelor’s degree in graphic arts or related field preferred. Experience in web/multimedia/graphic design required. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office 2007 and Adobe Creative Suite 3 (with a focus on Photoshop and Flash) required. Qualified candidates should be able to work under tight deadlines and deliver PowerPoint, Photoshop, and Flash assignments in a timely and error-free manner. Must be experienced or willing to learn Flash Action Script 3.0, XML, Flex Builder, and Adobe Soundbooth CS4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively on a project team are required. Attention to detail is a must. Graphic design and Flash work samples required for review.

    Domestic Research Job Openings:

    GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GIS) DATA MANAGER

    Macro International Inc., an evaluation and social sciences professional services firm, seeks candidates to support an HIV behavioral surveillance project with the Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention (DHAP), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Candidates must be willing to work at the CDC facility located near Macro’s Atlanta office, and abide by all CDC-required and preferred security and other requirements while on-site at DHAP.

    Primary responsibilities for this position will include managing, maintaining, and updating GIS (and related) databases.  Specific tasks will include spatial data manipulation and querying within GIS, importing/exporting data, and GIS mapping. In addition, this position will be responsible for geo-referencing and cleaning databases from different sources (e.g. US Census) in preparation for more formal analysis.

    Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Environmental Science, Geography, Public Health, or related field required.  Master’s degree preferred.  Minimum two years experience working with GIS (ArcGIS) and basic PC computing skills required.  Candidates must be able to manage tasks, work under tight deadlines, deliver completed assignments in a timely and accurate manner, and interact effectively with clients and colleagues. Attention to detail is a must for this position.  Background in spatial analysis, such as cluster detection and spatial regression models, and experience with the software programs R and SaTScan is highly desirable.
     
    Work will be performed on site (at CDC) but primarily directed by personnel off site.  Candidate must be able to work independently and interact with colleagues with various backgrounds and expertise.

    RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (Longitudinal Research)

    Macro International Inc., an evaluation and social sciences professional services firm in Atlanta, GA, seeks candidates experienced in the implementation of longitudinal research studies to support a national, multi-site multi-method evaluation of children's mental health services programs. This position will provide technical guidance to multiple community-level staff on the implementation of longitudinal research protocols, technical assistance and training to various audiences on program evaluation and longitudinal research, and assurance of compliance with evaluation requirements.

    Primary responsibilities for this position include: developing and implementing data collection protocols; preparing written materials such as instructional manuals, reports, assessment instruments, IRB and OMB packages, and training presentations; and, visiting project sites to conduct training.  Other duties may include literature reviews, in-depth interviews, focus groups, survey design and administration, data management, data analysis, and report writing.

    The ideal candidate has experience with and understands issues associated with quantitative longitudinal research studies and multi-site initiatives such as recruitment, monitoring, and retention; is familiar with participatory and utilization-focused evaluation approaches; is able to interpret field-level problems and generate solutions, can synthesize quantitative and qualitative information from a variety of sources, can write for technical and non-technical audiences, and can interact effectively with clients and colleagues to advise longitudinal data collection efforts in a range of settings.

    Familiarity with public health, children’s mental health, or human service policy and delivery systems preferred. Experience with diverse cultures, tribal communities, or fluency in another language, particularly Spanish, is desired. Experience using quantitative data analysis software such as SPSS, and web-based data collection and management applications desired.

    The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented self-starter who can work independently to solve problems creatively and work collaboratively with individuals of varying levels of technical expertise, and contribute to overall project goals across multiple study components.

    Qualifications: Master’s degree in public health, public policy, behavioral or social sciences, or related field required with 2 to 3 years of relevant experience. Completion of graduate level statistics and research methods courses is a must.  Facility using Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and/or Access) is essential. Candidates must have well developed writing skills.  Travel is required.

    International Research Job Openings (U.S.-Based):

    ECONOMIST (INTERNATIONAL HIV/AIDS)

    Macro International Inc., an evaluation and social sciences professional services firm in Atlanta, GA, seeks candidates with a graduate-level degree or equivalent training, skills, and experience concentrating in health economics or public health policy, to assist in economic evaluations of international HIV/AIDS programs for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Global AIDS Program (GAP).  Project work will support U.S.-based and international U.S. Government staff working in Africa , Asia , and the Caribbean to implement the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (Emergency Plan). 

    Primary responsibilities for this position include the following: 1) assist in design, methods, and analytic strategies, 2) data management and analysis, 3) prepare country-specific analyses and reports, 4) prepare meta-analyses and corresponding reports for Federal and international stakeholders, 5) prepare manuscripts for refereed publications 6) prepare and deliver training on conducting economic evaluations in developing countries, 7) technical support to Emergency Plan working groups.  The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to conceptualize various methods and related analytic strategies, manage large data sets, and apply standard and advanced econometric analyses and modeling approaches.  Previous experience in cost-effectiveness or costing studies in HIV/AIDS or related public health areas is desirable.  The position provides the opportunity for joint authorship on refereed publications.  

    QUALIFICATIONS:  Must have Doctoral degree in economics, public health, public policy, behavioral or social sciences, or a related field (or demonstrated equivalence in skill, training, and experience) with at least 2 years related experience in international settings or working with agencies with an international scope, or Masters degree in the same fields listed above with at least 4 years of related experience.
